The Museum of Drawers, a former box for reels of sewing silk from an old haberdasher’s shop, comprises 20 drawers, each with 25 compartements – rooms. Each of these totally 500 rooms measures 1 11/16 ´´ in height, 2 1/4 ´´ in width and 1 7/8 ´´ in depth, and in each of them houses an original work of art, mostly realized by artists of the 1960ies and 1970ies especially for the Museum of Drawers.

The museum itself stands on the 501st work of art, a metalbase by Ed Kienholz.

The real Museum of Drawers is in the collection of the Kunsthaus Zürich/Switzerland.
